FAQ

What to wear?

Yoga clothes, wetsuits, & bikinis are all appropriate. Wear what you will feel the most comfortable in if you are wet. Shorts, a tank top, and maybe a windbreaker will work too.

  • Winter and Spring: the water is cold but you'll have the experience of using one of our warm and safe dry suits. We add $20 per dry suit to our regular rental prices. If you own a dry suit of your own let us know. We'll add you to our Winter Pro program for a discount.

  • June: the water is still quite cold. You can wear a wetsuit or just the neoprene booties on your feet.

  • July & August: It’s summer! Come in your bathing suit or yoga clothes.. Whatever you are comfortable in. Just remember you will probably get a bit wet sitting on the board at least.

  • September: the water is getting warm. You can wear a wetsuit or just the neoprene booties on your feet. Specialized clothing is also an option.

Is Paddle Pirates accessible?
With our mega-board and our fleet of tandem vessels, we've accommodated clients with mobility impairments and given lifetime memories to people and their families with a variety of special needs. Caregiver rental is always FREE. We also have a crew with experience in guiding. Examples are, (but not limited to): Visual impairments and blindness, children and adults with autism.

What if my booking is cancelled?

Due to weather and water conditions, we may need to cancel a class up to 2 hours prior to the start of class in which case you will be credited and can reschedule a class. We want you to have the best possible experience – it’s not fun to learn in high winds and choppy waters. Sometimes these conditions exist even if it’s sunny and warm out.

What if I need to cancel my rental?

Our booking system is generous, allowing you to cancel up to 8 hours prior to your booking. Check the confirmation email for links to reschedule or cancel your booking. Full refunds are processed within 2-4 business days, (usually less). Unlike other outfitters, we don't hold on to your money as 'credit'.

Is Paddle Pirates insured?

We're fully insured to work on the water. All of our staff have lots of time in and around the water and are a good source of safety information. Our staff are also available for guided tours and instruction.
